Below is a listing of results and stats from the fourth week of the girls soccer season. This is for matches played through Sept. 7. Information is gathered via MaxPreps, coach email submissions and team social media accounts. A lack of individual stats listed means none of those sources provided that information.
The Woodmore girls soccer team continued to roll last week, picking up three more shutout victories while improving to 7-0 on the season.
In a 17-0 win over Northwood, the Wildcats got hat tricks from Kelsey Kaylor and Bailey Meggitt. Rylie Hesselbart added two more, while nine others had one apiece including Wren Lewis, Keira Travis, Addison Pleasnick, Emma Hahn, Karli Heins, McKenzie Giesler, Grace Hablitzel, Ava Lee Cobb, and Izzy Helmke. Kaylor and Giesler had two assists apiece, while Travis, Cobb, Taylor Hill, Willow Lewis, Valerie Kerecz, Lexi Rohrbacher, Helmke, Heins, and Hahn had one apiece. They also played four in goal, including Helmke, Hablitzel, Hesselbart, and Kaylor. Hesselbart made the lone save.
Kaylor scored the lone goal on an assist from Helmke in a 1-0 win over Eastwood, which was the team’s closest win of the season. Kaylor scored just a few minutes in, and it held. Abbie Schmeltz made three saves in goal. In a 4-0 win over Norwalk, Kaylor scored twice, and the duo of Helmke and Hahn had one apiece. Helmke, Hill, Heins, and Camille Strong had one assist apiece. Schmeltz made three saves in goal.
The Wildcats will now prepare for Thursday’s big match against Oak Harbor, who is 6-1. It’s their lone match of the week.
The Oak Harbor girls soccer team won a pair of matches over Rossford and Sandusky last week. In the 4-1 win over Rossford, Claire Blausey scored twice on assists from Abby Coutcher and Emma Lewis. Lewis also took a through ball from Kendall Gaines for the team’s second goal of the game, and Skyler Schultz scored the final goal on a low-corner back post shot off a cross from Blausey. In the 7-0 win over Sandusky, Blausey had another big game by finishing with three goals and one assist. Lewis added a pair of goals, while Kennedy Slates and Kaitlyn Meloche added one apiece. Outside of Blausey’s helper, Schultz, Slates, and Gaines added one apiece.
The Rockets (6-1) have a huge match against undefeated Woodmore on the road Thursday before concluding the week at home against Bryan on Saturday.
The Lake girls soccer team went 1-0-1 last week, tying Eastwood 3-3 before defeating Swanton 12-0. In the tie with Eastwood, Sagan Schroyer had a pair of goals, while Paige Allen scored once. Tessa Heckman had the lone assist, while Serenity Cappelletty had 10 saves. In the win over Swanton, Macey Maguire had a hat trick, while Madelyn Osborn, Morgann Blandin, and Brooke Wiley each scored twice. Tabitha Balsmeyer, Tessa Heckman, and Kallie Ferrara added one goal apiece, while the assists came from Wiley (2), Maguire, Schroyer, Balsmeyer, Allie Byington, and Allen. Cappelletty had three saves for Lake.
The Flyers (2-2-2) will be back in action Wednesday at Maumee and Saturday at home against Northwood.
The Eastwood girls soccer team went 0-1-1 last week with a 3-3 tie against Lake and a 1-0 loss against Woodmore. Karly Wasserman nearly tied the game against the Wildcats in the final seconds, but an offsides penalty erased the goal. Against Lake, the trio of Wasserman, Karissa Nelson, and Piper Sutton scored once apiece, while Nelson and Kennedy Ameling each had one assist. Ava Kachmarik made 14 saves against Woodmore and eight more against Lake. The Eagles (3-2-2) are back in action Wednesday against Rossford and Saturday against Ottawa Hills.
The Genoa girls soccer team battled to a scoreless tie against Maumee in their lone match of the week. No individual statistics were reported for the Comets, who will face Otsego on the road Tuesday and Delta at home on Saturday.
The Clay girls soccer team split a pair of matches last week against Springfield (W, 1-0) and Notre Dame (L. 5-2). No statistics were reported for the Eagles (2-3-2), who will face Fremont Ross on Wednesday in their lone match of the week.
The Northwood girls soccer team fell to Woodmore in their lone match of the week. No results were reported for the Rangers (0-7), who will face Bellevue on Wednesday and Lake on Saturday.
