This weekly roundup includes games played Aug. 31-Sept. 6.
Clay (3-3) won one of its three matches, defeating Napoleon 5-0 sandwiched in between losses to St. Ursula (3-0) and Notre Dame (2-1). Emily Threet registered a pair of goals and assists against Napoleon, while Bennett Mahr, Koren Stevens and Grace Mittendorf had one goal each. Alaina Simok and Chloe Miller added one assist each. Stats weren’t reported for the other matches.
Eastwood (4-0-1) stayed undefeated with two more shutout victories over Delta (2-0) and Oak Harbor (1-0). In the opener, Karissa Nelson and Lauren Schuerman scored once apiece, while Macy Shoemaker and Josie Appelhans split the assists. Ava Kachmarik made two saves. Schuerman added another goal in thrilling fashion against Oak Harbor, finding the net with just over nine minutes left in regulation for a 1-0 win in the NBC opener. It was assisted by Gabby Provo. Kachmarik saved five more shots.
Genoa (3-1) defeated Lake 4-1 in its league opener. Izzy West and Olivia Downard each scored twice to lead the Comets.
Lake (1-3) fell to Genoa 4-1 in its league opener. Macey Maguire had the team’s lone goal, while Serenity Cappelletty made seven saves.
Northwood (0-5) fell to Rogers 5-0 in its lone match. No stats were reported.
Oak Harbor (5-1) split its two matches, defeating Norwalk 4-0 to open the week before falling 1-0 to Eastwood. Claire Blausey continued a torrid stretch to open the season with a hat trick against Norwalk, while Gabs Neiderhouse had one goal and one assist. Olivia May added a pair of helpers.
Waite (0-1) didn’t have any matches.
Woodmore (4-0) had a busy week, toppling Sandusky Perkins (3-0), Norwalk (2-0) and Bellevue (3-0) during the week. Head coach Jeff Helmke earned his 75th career victory in the opener, which saw goals from Bailey Meggitt, Taylor Hill and Karli Heins. Hill added two assists, and Emma Hahn had another. Abbie Schmeltz made five saves. In the win over Norwalk, Hill and Heins scored once apiece, and the tandem of Willow Lewis and Rylie Hesselbart split the assists. Schmeltz made a pair of saves. In the finale against Bellevue, Hill, Lewis and Hesselbart scored once each, while Hill, Heins and Hahn had one helper each. Schmeltz had four saves.
