Clay posted a shutout of Bowling Green while using a big second quarter to stay undefeated. The Eagles produced a 20-yard touchdown run from Landon Echelberry for the game’s first score and added another on an Echelberry to JJ Medina connection just before the end of the first quarter. Following that, Clay needed just two minutes and 30 seconds combined over four scoring drives in the second quarter to build a 42-0 lead at the half. Besgrove scored the first one from four yards out, Echelberry found Max Morrison in the corner of the endzone for the next, Joey Donley added a 21-yard score down the left sideline, and Echelberry found Bryce Ostrander for the final touchdown of the half. The Eagles added a pair of rushing touchdowns from Carter Schreiber and a 44-yard scoring run from Santonio Smith in the second half. Besgrove (60) and Echelberry (47) totaled 107 yards rushing. The Eagles (3-0) are set to face Napoleon in week four, seeking just the program’s third 4-0 start post 9/11, which would join them with the 2002 and 2019 teams.
Eastwood 12, Wauseon 7
A pair of first half touchdowns from Brayden Luidhardt to Cam Schumaker held up as Eastwood toppled Wauseon. Luidhardt finished 20-of-27 through the air for 246 yards, while Schumaker caught seven passes for 133 yards to lead the Eagles. Brayden Brown was a workhorse out of the backfield with 22 carries for 83 yards, while Vincent Opfer also caught seven passes for 48 yards. Logan Brown, who led the team with six tackles, added 45 yards receiving. Eastwood was outrushed 102-95 in yardage but held a 246-40 advantage through the air. In addition to Brown, Schumaker and Landen Simon each added four tackles, while Luidhardt, Levi Strayer and Brady Ramlow added three apiece. Simon and Logan Miesmer each had one sack, too. The Eagles (2-1) are set to face Rossford in week four.
Genoa 48, Huron 20
Genoa rushed for 237 yards as a team, led by 145 yards on 16 carries for Alex Materni, who scored three times. Josh Caughorn (34) and Tommy Braun (29) added 63 yards combined on the ground, while Braun and Hunter Bickel each scored once. Myles Mollenhauer completed 12-of-16 passes for 143 yards with a pair of touchdown strikes to Jaxon Magnone, who caught eight passes for 106 yards while being targeted 11 times. The Comets (2-1) are set to face Otsego in week four.
Delta 50, Gibsonburg 6
Gibsonburg had a tough outing as Delta built a 44-0 lead at the half before Reece Walby’s 19-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter provided the lone scoring for the Golden Bears. Walby finished with 26 yards on five carries, while Grant Smith toted it 12 times for 42 yards. Ayden Binder (15) and Keese Sanchez (12) added 27 yards rushing combined, while Sanchez finished 2-for-3 for 23 yards passing with both completions going to Walby. The Golden Bears (1-2) are set to face McComb in week four.
Lake 26, Evergreen 8
Lake kept the momentum going from the previous week’s last-minute win over Northwood behind 174 yards rushing from Julian Rodriguez, 160 yards receiving from Jaxson Rymers and 184 yards passing from KJ Magers. Rodriguez rushed 22 times for a pair of scores, while Rymers added 34 yards and one touchdown on the ground. He also had a receiving score. Roelino Maya added two receptions for 24 yards. The Flyers built a 26-0 lead before Evergreen got on the board with a 34-yard run late in the fourth. Lake (2-1) is set to face Maumee in week four.
Northwood 28, St. Paul 0
Skyler Rita rushed 21 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Rangers offense in a shutout of St. Paul. DeAndre Curry (87), Tyler Osley (48) and John Sawyer (31) added a combined 166 yards on the ground. Osley also completed 7-of-11 passes for 142 yards and one touchdown, which went on a 19-yard strike to Curry. Sawyer (66) and Valyric Goings (47) added 113 yards receiving. Ethan Leonard and Nino Cillolovos recorded a team-best 11 tackles each, while Kevin O’Donnell had six. The Rangers (2-1) are set to face Edison in week four.
Port Clinton 29, Oak Harbor 13
Oak Harbor fell behind 17-0 through one and a half quarters and wasn’t able to overcome the deficit. Micah Miller’s 15-yard touchdown run trimmed the deficit to 10 midway through the second quarter, but Port Clinton responded with another score to take a 23-7 lead at the half. Preston Bickelhaupt found Braxtin Witt for an 80-yard touchdown on the first drive of the second half, but the Rockets weren’t able to score any further. Bickelhaupt, who was 10-for-25 passing for 147 yards, also finished with 21 carries for 71 yards, and Miller totaled 28 on five carries. Miller (36) and Tyler Stewart (22) added 58 yards receiving. Max Barr had the game’s lone interception. Matthew Hubans led Oak Harbor defensively with a game-high 14 tackles. The Rockets (2-1) are set to face Fostoria in week four.
Maumee 29, Waite 12
Shayne Curns completed 10-of-15 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown, while Carl Foard rushed 15 times for 117 yards, but it wasn’t enough as Waite fell to Maumee. Kaiden Smith added a two-yard touchdown reception. Deondre Pope (37), Foard (30), Antwuan Williams (22) and Connor Koonce (17) also helped in the receiving department. The Indians (1-2) are set to play Rogers in week four.
Woodmore 46, Fostoria 13
Wesley Kayser’s 88-yard touchdown run highlighted an easy win over Fostoria. Overall, the Wildcats rushed for 346 yards, led by Ish Nagy’s 117 yards on seven carries, two of which went for touchdowns. Lucas Caldwell added 13 carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns, while Auden Hemminger had 41 yards and one touchdown. Calvin Lipstraw passed for 11 yards, which came on one completion to Kayser. The Wildcats (3-0) are set to play Elgin in week four.
