Here is the results of the second week of the girls volleyball season. This is for matches played through Aug. 25. Information is gathered via MaxPreps, coach email submissions and team social media accounts. A lack of individual stats listed means none of those sources provided that information.

The Eastwood volleyball team won a pair of tough, four-set matches over Liberty-Benton and Whitmer this past week, improving to 2-1 on the season.

In the 15-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-12 win over Whitmer, Eastwood was led by Mack Miller’s 28 kills and 10 digs. Ivy Schrader added 15 kills, nine digs and a pair of aces. Olivia Riter chipped in 37 assists and two aces. Macey White led the team in digs with 13, while adding six assists. Vanessa Evans led in blocks with seven while tacking on four kills and four blocks.

In the 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19 win over Liberty-Benton, Miller produced another double-double with 27 kills and 11 digs, while Schrader had 11 kills and nine digs. White had a team-best 21 digs. Riter directed the offense with 40 assists, seven digs and four aces. A pair of others – Stella Chlebowski (six digs) and Addyson Leppelmeier (three aces) also contributed.

The Eagles (2-1) have a tough week, beginning NBC play at home against Genoa on Tuesday before traveling to Oak Harbor on Thursday.

The Genoa volleyball team took down Port Clinton in four sets (23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-13) in their lone match of the week.

Genoa was led offensively by the trio of Makenna Moritz (9), Lucy Schlageter (9), and Riley Sinift (8), who combined for 26 terminations. Moritz had three aces to pace a group of four players with at least two. Sinift stuffed a trio of shots, including two of the solo variety. Defensively, Charli Magnone led her team with 20 digs, while Schlageter added 15 and Moritz had 14. Mya Colvin finished fourth with seven digs.

The Comets (2-0) begin a tough, three-match week on the road at Eastwood Tuesday. They’ll host Lake on Thursday and conclude the week at home against Delta.

The Lake volleyball team won two of their three matches last week, defeating St. Ursula and Notre Dame before falling in five sets to Northview.

In the 26-24, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20 win over St. Ursula, Lake’s offense was led by Mylah Vorst’s 14 terminations, while Kennedy Falkenberg (8) and Lucy Boos (6) combined for 14. A trio of players had multiple aces, while Vorst had four blocks (one solo). Laynie Meadows (17), Calli Conley (15), and Boos (14) combined for 46 digs. Savanna Saunders had 20 assists, and Boos chipped in 12.

In the 25-17, 25-23, 20-25, 25-19 win over Notre Dame, Vorst (13), Meadows (12), Falkenberg (11) and Harlow Haberland (9) combined for 45 kills. Saunders led the team with five aces, while Haberland and Vorst each had four blocks. Caity Extine added a pair of stuffs. In digs, Conley (19), Boos (14), Meadows (14) and Kortny Rollins (13) combined for 60. The tandem of Saunders (24) and Boos (23) dished out 47 assists.

Despite falling to Northview 25-15, 20-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-12, Lake was led offensively by Vorst and Meadows, who had 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Conley had three aces. Vorst had two blocks. Meadows (19), Boos (15), Conley (14) and Rollins (9) combined for 57 digs. Saunders (22) and Boos (18) totaled 40 assists.

The Flyers (3-1) open NBC play this week at Fostoria on Tuesday and at Genoa on Thursday.

The Cardinal Stritch volleyball team took down Rossford and Waite in a pair of home sweeps last week.

In the 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 win over Rossford, Olivia Ford had 15 kills, while Gabby Cathers added eight. Ford chipped in four of the team’s nine aces, while Cathers had the team’s lone block, which came in the solo variety. Morgan Kennedy led in digs with 10, while Ryley Rodriguez and Ford added seven apiece. Hayden Mathena had 26 assists.

In the 25-9, 25-2, 25-13 win over Waite, Cathers led the squad with 10 terminations. The team had an incredible 30 aces, led by nine from Cathers, eight from Ford, and seven from Rodriguez. Mariah McDade and Jasmine Peek split the team’s two blocks, and Kennedy led with three digs. Mathena had 19 assists.

The Cardinals (2-1) will be back in action at Woodmore on Wednesday before traveling to Emmanuel Christian on Thursday.

The Clay volleyball team split a pair of matches against Northview and Anthony Wayne before finishing off the week in winning fashion against Notre Dame.

In the 25-21, 25-13, 21-25, 25-14 win over Northview, the duo of Eme Goetz (25) and Maddie Franke (15) combined for 40 kills, while Leah Hazuda added nine. Audrey Vriezelaar led the team with three aces, while Brooklyn Mariea (4), Goetz (3) and Hazuda (3) combined for 10 blocks. Jadyn Kennedy (12) and Hayden Rodriguez (11) added 23 digs, and Rodriguez led her team with 43 assists.

After falling 25-10, 27-29, 25-16, 25-12 to Anthony Wayne, Clay rebounded with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-14 win over Notre Dame on Monday, where Goetz had 17 kills and Hazuda added four aces.

The Eagles will host Southview on Tuesday, travel to Napoleon on Thursday and battle Avon and Archbishop Hoban in Avon on Saturday.

The Oak Harbor volleyball team has had the busiest start to the season, winning three of four matches last week.

In a 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-13 loss to Perkins to open the week, the Rockets were led by Tatum Baumgartner (18), Myley Sandwisch (12) and Alayna Hall (11) offensively, who combined for 41 kills. Baumgartner had four aces and split the team’s two blocks with Hall. Ava Lynch (25), Sandwisch (16) and Baumgartner (10) combined for 51 digs. Bella Rios (24) and Sandwisch (17) chipped in 41 assists, which gave Sandwisch a triple double in kills, digs and assists.

In a 25-15, 25-11, 25-15 win over Toledo Christian, Sandwisch had 12 kills with Hall just behind with nine. Morgan Lalonde (7) and Sandwisch (5) combined for 12 aces, and Maddie Schiets had two blocks. Lynch was the lone player with double-digit digs, finishing with 10. Six others had at least two. Sandwisch (16) and Rios (15) provided 31 assists.

No stats were available for the other two matches.

The Rockets (5-1) are back in action Tuesday at Otsego, and they’ll host Eastwood on Thursday.

The Waite volleyball team lost a pair of matches to Woodward and Cardinal Stritch last week.

Rayne Dehring combined for 10 kills and seven aces in those outings to lead her team, while Daija Calhoun had 10 digs. Janessa Epperson added three solo blocks.

The Indians (0-2) will be back in action Wednesday at Rogers and against Put-in-Bay at home on Thursday.

The Gibsonburg volleyball team has opened the season in dominant fashion, sweeping all three of their matches against Danbury, Elmwood and St. Mary Central Catholic.

In the 25-22, 25-17, 25-18 win over Danbury, head coach Alan Ahle called Gibsonburg's performance a complete team effort. Leah Hall  had a team-best 16 kills, and Riley Gressman added nine. Emma Jividen led the way defensively with 12 digs, while Katie Hall (16) and Brooklyn Smith (11) combined for 27 assists.

In the 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 win over Elmwood, Hall once again had 16 kills, while Gressman added 11. Hall finished off a double-double with 10 digs, while Jividen chipped in 12 digs. Brooklyn Smith (17) and Katie Hall (16) combined for 33 assists.

The 25-14, 25-18, 25-13 win over St. Mary Central Catholic featured a team-best 20 kills from Riley Gressman along with 15 more from Leah Hall. Ava Dawson chipped in six, while Mackenzie Muntz and Emily Henderson had four apiece.

The Golden Bears (3-0) will be back in action Tuesday at home against Hopewell-Loudon before hosting Northwood on Thursday.

The Northwood volleyball team lost a pair of matches to Woodmore and Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic last week. They’re set to face North Baltimore on the road Monday.

The Rangers (0-2) will be back in action Tuesday at home against Lakota and Thursday at Gibsonburg.

The Woodmore volleyball team split a pair of matches last week against Genoa and Northwood to open the season.
