Oak Harbor clinches NBC title outright

This roundup is for games played between Feb. 2-8.

Oak Harbor (16-4, 11-0 NBC) clinched the Northern Buckeye Conference title outright with victories over Rossford (58-23) and Otsego (63-31).

In the week’s opener against Rossford, Karder Haas not only scored a game-high 18 points, but she eclipsed 1,000 career points. Reghan Markley added nine points, while Kendall Gaines and Brooke Tabbert delivered eight points apiece.

The victory over Otsego featured a game-best 17 points apiece from Haas and Tabbert, along with 12 from Markley. Gaines and Lainey Schmidt added five points apiece.

Genoa (14-6, 8-2 NBC) split a pair of games on the week, falling to Margaretta (47-34) before defeating Otsego (49-23).

Makenna Moritz produced 12 points to lead the Comets against Margaretta. Kylie Pennington added nine, while five others had at least two points.

Moritz added 17 points in the win over Otsego, which included 15 points in the first half. Addi Moritz totaled 15 points, while Keira Combs had eight points on 6-of-6 shooting from the charity stripe. Pennington added five points.

Gibsonburg (15-4, 13-0 SBC) took down Northwood (62-16) and Hopewell-Loudon (58-17).

Elly Evarts made 5-of-7 from long distance to finish with 20 points, nine assists, six rebounds, five steals, and one block against Northwood. Emma Jividen, Ava Dawson, and Emily Henderson tallied eight points apiece. Leah Hall added a game-best eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Dawson (4) and Taylor Rapp (3) combined for seven steals.

Evarts added a game-high 23 points along with two assists and two steals against Hopewell-Loudon. Dawson added 10 points, three assists, and three steals. Katie Hall added five points, five rebounds, and three assists. Mackenzie Muntz led the team with four assists.

Eastwood (11-8, 5-6 NBC) dropped a league matchup against Maumee (54-42) before responding with a win over Bowling Green (70-46).

Ava Kachmarik and Gracyn Reiter had a team-best eight points against Maumee, while Karissa Nelson added seven. Kenna Nelson had six points and seven rebounds, while Lauren Schuerman had six points. Sophia Zunk rounded out the scoring with four points.

Kachmarik had a game-high 20 points against Bowling Green, while Karissa Nelson added 14. Schuerman tallied nine points and five steals, while Zunk had eight points. The duo of Mack Miller and Reiter had six points each, and Miller pulled down 14 rebounds. Kenna Nelson totaled four points and six assists, and Grace Meter rounded out the scoring with three points.

Woodmore (14-5, 11-2 SBC) reeled off three wins over Elmwood (53-33), Northwood (54-8), and SJCC (53-28).

Kelsey Kaylor led the Wildcats in the win over Elmwood with a game-high 17 points, and Camille Strong added 13.

Woodmore led 36-3 at the half against Northwood en route to a comfortable win that included 18 points from Kaylor and 10 more from Keira Travis.

Kaylor capped her strong week with 22 points against SJCC, while Strong added 11 points. The Wildcats broke the game open with a 22-7 third quarter performance.

Lake (12-9, 5-6 NBC) split a pair of non-league contests, defeating Van Buren (46-39) and losing to Evergreen (54-36).

Brooke Wiley poured in a game-high 21 points against Van Buren, and Paige Allen added 13. Aubrina Morales (5), Kaydence Eckenrode (4), and Rowan Brossia (3) combined for 12 points to round out the scoring. The Flyers pulled off the win despite a 6-of-18 performance from the foul line in the fourth quarter as a team.

Wiley had a game-best 23 points against Evergreen, while Allen (5), Eckenrode (3), Brossia (3), and Gabby Moreno (2) combined for the other 13 points.

Northwood (3-17, 2-11 SBC) dropped games to Vanlue (37-30), Woodmore (54-8), Gibsonburg (62-16), and Lakota (49-38) last week.

Kadience Karmol registered a team-best 12 points in the opener against Vanlue. Averey Perlaky added nine, while Camryn Haas (4), Alyssa Boubon (3), and Emily Reichow (2) combined for nine.

Perlaky had six of her team’s eight points against Woodmore, while Boubon and Marissa Gutekunst split the other two points.

Reichow led the Rangers with six points against Gibsonburg, while Perlaky tallied five. Eischen (3) and Karmol (2) combined for the other five points.

Karmol totaled a team-best 14 points against Lakota. Perlaky and Reichow each had eight points, while Boubon had five. Eischen finished with one point to round out the scoring.

Cardinal Stritch (5-16, 1-5 TAAC) dropped games to Ottawa Hills (40-27), North Central (41-26), and Toledo Christian (57-30).

Amaya Hill produced 12 points and 16 rebounds against Ottawa Hills to lead the Cardinals, while Morgan Kennedy had 11 points. Makayla “KK” Miltz and Alivia Castro added six rebounds apiece.

Hill had another big game with 15 points and 15 rebounds against North Central, and Kennedy added 11 points.

Hill finished the week with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Kennedy (7), Miltz (2), and Erin Carbe (1) combined for 10 points.

Waite (1-15, 1-5 City League) delivered its first win of the season against Woodward (37-30). Stats weren’t reported.

Clay (2-18, 2-8 NLL) had a busy week, falling to Findlay (69-9), Norwalk (60-25), Napoleon (48-22), and Rogers (48-21). Stats weren’t reported.
