OAK HARBOR 35, PORT CLINTON 20
Oak Harbor, which held a 307-72 advantage in rushing yards, led 35-0 through three quarters en route to a win over Port Clinton.
A special teams touchdown, a safety, and a Blake Nickel rushing touchdown helped the Rockets (3-0) take a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter. They added rushing touchdowns from Travis Bouyer and Kason Marshall before the half, and Bouyer added his second touchdown to open the second half and conclude the scoring for Oak Harbor.
Port Clinton scored all 20 of its points in the game’s final 4:20.
Nickel finished with a game-best 138 yards rushing on 22 carries, while Bouyer (87) and Marshall (53) also contributed. Breydan Porath went 7-of-9 passing for 46 yards, while Wyatt Augsburger caught five of those for 24 yards. Garrett Perkins had one reception for 12 yards.
WOODMORE 44, FOSTORIA 0
Woodmore continued its undefeated start to the season behind a five-touchdown performance from Landon Rich, who had 18 carries for 132 yards. He scored on runs of six, four, and eight yards in the opening quarter, added a fourth score before the half, and took one in from 12 yards out in the third quarter.
Cole Potridge produced a safety to conclude the third, and Jesse Lopez rumbled 30 yards for the game’s final points in the fourth. He finished with 53 yards on six carries, while Potridge added 33 yards on three rushes.
Wesley Kayser, Michael Seeger, and Robert Seeger each caught two passes for 40, 35, and 19 yards, respectively. Calvin Lipstraw went 7-of-12 passing for 102 yards.
Adyn Smith led the defense with six tackles. Ryan Maynard added five, and Michael Seeger finished with four. Robert Seeger and Keegan Strong each produced three tackles. Parker Angel recovered a fumble, and Bradley Allgier had the team’s lone sack.
EASTWOOD 35, WAUSEON 13
Eastwood responded in strong fashion from week two’s loss to Liberty Center, scoring the game’s final 35 points to knock off Wauseon.
Brayden Brown had 24 carries for 99 yards, including a three-yard touchdown burst in the second quarter that got the Eagles (2-1) on the board. Brayden Luidhardt then found Cam Schumaker for a 20-yard touchdown, which gave them a 14-13 lead at the half.
Luidhardt added a 17-yard touchdown strike to Edmund Opfer in the third quarter before taking one in himself from one-yard out to open the fourth. Opfer concluded the scoring with a scoop and score fumble return.
Schumaker and Opfer each finished with eight receptions and a touchdown, while Schumaker edged him out 78-75 for the game-high in yardage. Brady Ramlow added three catches for 29 yards, while Landon Weems also had one reception as Luidhardt finished 20-of-26 for 201 yards. Mason Chaffee made all five extra points.
Defensively, Landen Simon had a team-best six tackles, and Zach Mullholand added five. Opfer chipped in four, while Hunter Lauer finished fourth with three.
GENOA 42, HURON 32
Genoa won a hard-fought game over Huron with 28 second-half points and big performances from Luke Clement and Jaxon Magnone.
Huron took a 32-28 lead with 11:42 left in the game when Landon Hohler took one in from two yards out. Alex Materni responded with a 13-yard touchdown run to give Genoa the lead, and Clement produced his third touchdown to seal the game.
Clement rushed 25 times for 159 yards, while Magnone caught eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. Myles Mollenhauer and Materni each added scores on the ground.
Mollenhauer finished 15-of-20 passing for 171 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Routson was second on the team in receiving behind Magnone with three catches for 31 yards, while Logan Routson also caught three passes before finishing with 21 yards.
Gavin Grigson led the Comets (2-1) with 10 tackles, while Materni and Logan Routson each had eight. Ryan Routson and Magnone each added seven.
CLAY 48, BOWLING GREEN 3
Clay had a fun night, allowing just three points in the second quarter in a big win over BGHS.
The Eagles (2-1) outgained the Bobcats 337-213 in total yardage, including a 188-108 passing advantage and a 149-105 rushing advantage.
Jimmy Derr had a big day for Clay, catching five passes for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Max Morrison and Brodi Ostrander each had touchdown receptions. Landon Echelberry, who totaled a team-best 81 yards on 10 carries, finished 6-of-12 passing for 114 yards and four touchdowns. Carter Schreiber also completed 1-of-2 passing for 74 yards.
Bryce Besgrove gained 51 yards on 11 carries while punching one in for a score, while Collin Greenawalt had two carries for 17 yards.
Derek Harmer returned an interception for a touchdown for Clay, who got a team-best seven tackles from Greenawalt. Jonny Kamelesky (6), Chase Vriezelaar (6), and Harmer (5) also had at least five apiece. Greenawalt, Brannan Vargas, and Robert Stewart each had a sack, as well.
UPPER SANDUSKY 28, NORTHWOOD 18
Upper Sandusky jumped out to a 28-6 lead before handing Northwood its first loss of the season. The Rangers (2-1) got eight carries for 93 yards from quarterback Tyler Osley, who went 7-of-18 for 90 yards through the air. DeAndre Curry added nine carries for 75 yards and a touchdown, while Jason St. Claire scored once on the ground.
Jaymin Cannon led the receiving corps with two receptions for 37 yards. Defensively, Kevin O’Donnell had nine tackles, including one for loss. Cannon (8), Ethan Leonard (6) and Amadeo Munoz (6) added at least six tackles apiece, while Leonard also records one for loss.
DELTA 49, GIBSONBURG 28
Despite a late push, Gibsonburg fell on the road to Delta, which scored the first 22 points of the second half to break the game open. They also hurt the Golden Bears with two interceptions.
One key factor in the game was that the Panthers outgained the Golden Bears 336-164 on the ground, highlighted by Marcus Nagel’s 206 yards. Grant Smith led Gibsonburg (2-1) with 97 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, while Aiden Nims and Aiden Morant each added scores on the ground. Morant was the team’s leading receiver with 34 yards on two receptions, although Luke Foster also had two catches for 28 yards.
Reece Walby had a big day in the return game, compiling 189 yards on six kick returns, which included an 86-yard touchdown burst that pulled Gibsonburg within eight at halftime.
Defensively, Smith had a team-best nine tackles, while Hunter Wasserman and Walby added six apiece. Chuy Rodriguez was fourth with five tackles.
EVERGREEN 38, LAKE 28
Evergreen erased a 14-point deficit and made some key defensive plays late in a 38-28 win over Lake.
The Flyers (0-3) got big offensive performances from Julian Rodriguez, who had 31 carries for 144 yards and three touchdowns, Jaxson Rymers, who caught nine passes for 207 yards and a touchdown, and KJ Magers, who went 17-of-30 for 277 yards passing.
The Flyers, who led 21-14 at the half, had the ball at Evergreen’s two-yard line late in the third quarter of a tied game, but Evergreen made a goal line stand before orchestrating a 98-yard touchdown drive to take a 28-21 lead. After a field goal extended the lead, Lake got a touchdown in the final minutes to pull within three, but Evergreen recovered an onside kick.
Despite that, Lake’s defense recovered a fumble to give the Flyers a chance to take the lead. However, a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown sealed the win for the Vikings.
MAUMEE 42, WAITE 6
Waite (0-3) was led by Dayvon Holman, who had nine carries for 87 yards and a touchdown, as well as four catches for 36 yards. Takhi Myers contributed 11 carries for 91 yards, as well.
