Gibsonburg’s Elly Evarts and Reece Walby were named the Sandusky Bay Conference’s River Division player of the year in girls and boys basketball.
Evarts led the Gibsonburg girls to an 18-4 regular season that included the program’s first-ever undefeated conference slate (16-0). She is averaging 20 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 4.2 steals, and one block per game. On top of that, she became Gibsonburg’s all-time career scoring leader a couple weeks ago.
Woodmore’s Kelsey Kaylor also joined Evarts as a unanimous First Team All-SBC selection, while Gibsonburg’s Leah Hall and Woodmore’s Camille Strong also landed First Team.
Woodmore’s Keira Travis and Ariana Florio were tabbed Second Team All-SBC along with Gibsonburg’s Emily Henderson. Gibsonburg’s Emma Jividen landed an Honorable Mention All-SBC selection.
Meanwhile, Walby’s play has led Gibsonburg to an 18-2 record, including a 12-1 SBC record, with two league games remaining in the regular season. He is averaging a team-best 17.8 points along with six rebounds, four assists, and 3.7 steals per game.
Walby was joined by teammate Aiden Morant as First Team All-SBC selections, while Woodmore’s Carson Slates also earned a spot with them.
Gibsonburg’s Hunter Wasserman was tabbed Second Team All-SBC, while his teammate Xander Zimmerman, Northwood’s Aaron Torres, and Woodmore’s Gavin Donley earned Honorable Mention All-SBC recognition.
Clay’s Cousino, McGilvray named to All-NLL team
Clay senior Tori Cousino was one of six players named First Team All-Northern Lakes League in the Cardinal Division of girls basketball. Sophomore post Carlie McGilvray earned a Second Team All-NLL selection.
