Voting equipment test

The Ottawa County Board of Elections will conduct a public test of voting equipment on Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the Board of Elections office, located at 8444 W. SR 163, Oak Harbor in the Veterans Memorial Building.

Library to welcome author Adam Nimoy

The Toledo Lucas County Public Library will welcome Adam Nimoy, son of legendary Star Trek actor, Leonard Nimoy, Thursday, April 3, from 7-8 p.m. at the Main Library McMaster Center and Lobby, 325 N. Michigan Street Toledo.

Nimoy will discuss his book, “The Most Human: Reconciling with My Father, Leonard Nimoy.” The poignant memoir explores their complicated relationship and how it informed his views on marriage, parenting, and later, sobriety.

Nimoy’s appearance will feature a 45-minute moderated conversation followed by a brief audience Q&A. The presentation is part of the library’s ongoing Authors! series.

The cost is $25, which includes a copy of the book, while supplies last.

Tai Chi program

The Eastern Community YMCA, 2960 Pickle Rd., Oregon, will present an eight-week “Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention” program Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. beginning April 1.

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention aims to increase joint and flexibility, improve balance, decrease pain and improve focus. The American Arthritis Foundation recommends the program for its benefits in mindfulness and movement.

“Hot ‘n Cole”

Husband and wife, Matt and Cynthia Gruel, will share their musical talents at “Hot ‘n Cole – a Tribute to Cole,” Saturday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pemberville Opera House, 115 E. Main St.

Throughout the performance, the couple will capture Porter’s witty, engrossing and unique style through classics such as “Too Darn Hot,” “Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall in Love,” “Anything Goes” and many more favorites.

Quilters to meet

The Maumee Bay Country Quilt Guild will meet Tuesday, April 1, at 6:45 p.m. at Northwood Church of God, 3375 Curtice Rd. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Guild members, the “Three Sisters,” Karen Biers, Pam Bresler and Roberta Lopez, will present the look program, which will include a trunk show featuring a variety of styles. 

Visitors and new members are welcome. The visitors' fee is $10 and yearly membership is $35.
