Donations sought for Easter Egg Hunt
The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce is seeking donations to help support this year’s Easter Egg Hunt, which will be held Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m.
The Chamber welcomes donations from merchants, businesses and individuals to help provide packages of goodies to approximately 600 local children.
At the hunt, children age 12 and younger will find eggs in Adolphus Kraemer Park. Eggs will be filled with little goodies. Children will then be given a number, which will correspond with the egg numbers on posters in the downtown business windows. The children will then “hunt” for their number at the local businesses and will receive their Easter surprise. They will also be able to check to see if they are winners of a “Golden Egg.” The Easter Bunny will be available to visit and take photos at the Log Cabin.
The candy items are a $2 value, and Golden Egg Baskets are a $10 value and both are being put together by the Chamber. Each item/basket you sponsor will have your name on it. The Chamber is looking for sponsors for the eggs in the park.
To support the community event, call the chamber at 419-898-0479 or visit the office at 161 West Water St., Oak Harbor.

Recycle mindfully
As spring arrives, many residents are eager to refresh their homes with a thorough cleaning. However, the Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District (OSS) urges residents to recycle mindfully to keep the program clean and efficient.
“This week, we have received an overwhelming amount of material,” Tim Hassinger, Communications and Outreach Specialist for OSS said last week. “While we appreciate the strong interest in recycling, we ask residents to be smart and considerate when using the bins.”
Key recycling reminders
Styrofoam is not accepted. Unfortunately, there is no local recycling option for Styrofoam at this time, and it must be placed in the trash.
Other commonly mistaken recyclables include thermal paper (receipts), plastic garden pots and clothes hangers. These items should not be placed in recycling bins. Instead, consider finding ways to reuse items like garden pots and hangers.
For more information or to report full bins, please contact Tim Hassinger at thassinger@recycleoss.org or call 419-334-7222 ext. 3.
