Maria Markovich

Maria Markovich of Oregon passed away on July 24, 2025. At 92 years old, she “lived” every day of her life. From the beginning, her struggles and hardships were many. Through strength and determination, she survived it and made a very full and interesting life for herself after coming to this country at the age of 17.

With her huge and giving heart along with her spunk, sass, feisty disposition and sense of humor-she touched many lives in her lifetime. Her family was everything to her and will miss her terribly.
Maria had a passion for cooking and feeding people-often driving across town to deliver meals to her family. She also had a real passion for gardening and spending time with her friends out at the Oak Shade Grove. She was involved in the German American Festival for many years, always proud to be wearing one of her beautiful german Dirndl’s.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Konrad and Helene Troje, brothers, Karl Bachmayer, Ernest Bachmayer and Robert Troje. Sisters, Albina Winding and Irma Lefholtz. She is survived by her son Arthur Markovich (Cindy), daughter Marcia Ramsey, grandchildren, Eric Ramsey, Brian Ramsey, Karla Rodriguez, Jenna VanWinkle and Alanna Markovich. Also 6 great-grandchildren, all who loved her very much.

Maria’s family is truly grateful to Ohio Living Hospice who provided her and her family with an enormous amount of care and compassion. We are forever grateful to them.
