Barbara R. Shamp, age 86, of Perrysburg and formerly of Latcha, Ohio passed away March 30, 2025 at Kingston of Perrysburg.
She was born to Kenneth and Henriella R. (Bahnsen) Harpel on August 9, 1938 in Toledo, OH. On August 29, 1959 she married Donald E. Shamp at Zion Lutheran Church in Latcha, OH. Donald and Barbara raised 2 children and celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage together until Donald’s passing in 2022.
Barbara worked as a hairdresser for Village Hair Gallery in Stony Ridge for many years until her retirement. A woman of faith she was a member of Lakewood Church of the Brethren in Millbury. Among her many ministries, Barbara enjoyed writing cards of all sorts to the church members and her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking which she also shared with others, playing bunco, traveling with her husband, and bowling during her younger years. Barbara had many joys; however, it was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren that gave her the most joy.
Barbara, is survived by her daughter; Sherri (Randy) Johns of Millbury; grandchildren: Dylan (Madeline Vineyard) Shamp, Dallas (Sarah Norden) Shamp, Logan (Lynnsie) Shamp, Ellen (Austin) Seifert, Hannah (Andrew Wilson) Johns, Clair (Ryan Feskanich) Johns, and great-grandson Gavin Seifert. In addition to her husband Donald, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and son, Jeffery Donald Shamp.
Family and friends will be received 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025 at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Lakewood Church of the Brethren, 27009 Lemoyne Road, Millbury.
There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m., until time of service. Officiating will be, Pr. Gene Wyse. Barbara will be laid to rest next to Donald in Lake Township Cemetery.
