What's happening? Murder mystery comedy, ‘CLUE,’ coming to Stranahan May 6-11

Murder and blackmail are on the menu when six mysterious guests assemble at Boddy Manor for a night they’ll never forget. Was it Mrs. Peacock in the study with the knife? Or was it Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench?

The American Theatre Guild will present “CLUE,” the hilarious murder mystery comedy inspired by the Hasbro board game and adapted from the fan-favorite film, for eight performances May 6-11 at the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Boulevard, Toledo.

The production is part of the 2024–25 Broadway in Toledo Series.

Museum Ships Open

The National Museum of the Great Lake’s museum ships, the Col. James M. Schoonmaker and Tug Ohio opened for the season May 1 after a winter hiatus.

Through Oct. 31, visitors will have the opportunity to step back in time and explore the 617-foot Schoonmaker cargo ship and the Tug Ohio, gaining insight into life on the lakes during the 20th century.

In addition to the ship tours, guests can also explore our museum galleries, which showcase captivating stories of the Great Lakes through artifacts, photography and interactive exhibits.

Sourdough Made Simple

Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society will present “Sourdough Made Simple,” Tuesday, May 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the OJHS Educational Wing, 1133 Grasser St., Oregon. Parking is available off the Ansonia Street entrance.

The cost is $35 per person, which includes starter, the class and recipes.

Live! In the House

The Matt Tolentino Band will bring the sounds of hot jazz and swing to the Pemberville Opera House Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. The concert wraps up the Live! In the House Concert Series presented by the Pemberville Freedom Area Historical Society.

“Wicked” Sing-Along

Whether you’re “Popular” or like to “Defy Gravity,” follow the yellow brick to Imagination Station for a “Wicked” Sing-Along Saturday, May 17.       

The first show will begin with the movie in the KeyBank Discovery Theater at 2:30 p.m., followed by a meet-and-greet with Elphaba and Glinda at 6:30 p.m.

The second show will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a meet-and-greet with Elphaba and Glinda, followed by the screening of the movie at 7:30 p.m.

Sweetest Day Ever

Indulge your sweet tooth and explore downtown Bowling Green at the Wood County Chocolate Crawl, hosted by United Way of Greater Toledo, Saturday, May 10, from 2-5 p.m.

Naturalists to speak at Camp Sabroske

Camp Sabroske Lodge & Trails, 4405 N. Toussaint N, Rd., Oak Harbor, will welcome professional naturalists Bill Beaty and Jan Runyon May 13-20 and will present a special event Saturday, May 17.

The event schedule includes:

  • 10 a.m.: Learning Bird Songs – Some birders do 95% of their birding by listening to the songs. Explore approaches to know birds by their songs (Indoor presentation with an option to step outside to listen).
  • 1 p.m.: Birding Essentials for Everyone – Whether you are an experienced birder or beginner, this class will help you expand and improve your birding abilities. Attendees will explore appearance, behavior, location, sound, equipment and other topics. The brief indoor presentation will be followed by observations in the diverse habitat all within sight of the lodge.

Imagination Station is offering a series of “Spark Your Curiosity” Summer Camps for campers ages 6-8 and 9-13.

Fees for the weeklong camps are $275 for science center members and $300 for non-members.

Free digital public art guide

The Arts Commission's “Art in Public Places” program has launched a new free digital public art guide on the Bloomberg Connects platform.

Users can discover public artworks around the city, take self-guided tours with a live map, and listen to audio descriptions—from the mobile app or a web browser.

The guide also offers accessibility tools such as translation, screen reader support, transcripts, subtitles and alt-text to help visitors explore Toledo's Public Art collection.

“Hockey: exhibit heading into overtime

Imagination Station’s “Hockey: Faster Than Ever” has been extended through Aug. 31 at Imagination Station.

Now all summer long, visitors can beat the heat and go on an exciting journey, seeing the remarkable technical advancements and scientific breakthroughs that have shaped the sport. Visitors can test their skills and knowledge like true hockey pros with a variety of exciting interactives.

The exhibit is free for members and a $5 add-on to admission for non-members.
