Hope Burger’s painting “Go Make Yourself Pretty” will be featured in an exhibit entitled “Storytelling” June 4-29 at The Arts Garage (TAG) in Port Clinton.
Burger’s artwork invites viewers to imagine the stories behind her subjects, most often faces, and wonder what they may be thinking or feeling.
A Kent State University fine arts graduate, Burger has exhibited her work in galleries and shows for more than 15 years and now works from her studio in Fremont.
Burger’s creative process is intuitive rather than planned. She starts with playful layers of acrylic, collage, and other mixed media, then develops the images that emerge. Her work draws on her thoughts, memories, and personal experiences.
Burger will teach a class at TAG on Aug. 22 titled “Finding Faces.” To register, visit gpcaac.org.
A public reception will be held Saturday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at TAG, 317 W. Perry St.
