Shores & Islands Ohio debuts new ‘Sweet Treats Trail’

Posted

Shores & Islands Ohio has launched a new fully interactive trail, similar to their Cheers and Heritage trails, where participants can earn points toward fun prizes for checking-in via their mobile device when visiting participating businesses.

From homemade chocolates and creamy ice cream to freshly baked pastries and unique confections, the Sweet Treats Trail highlights the best locally made sweets in the region.

The trail includes 28 locations, highlighting everything from ice cream to pastries, cookies, cupcakes, candy and more. Businesses are located within the Shores & Islands Ohio region, from Elmore to Vermilion – even some island locations are included.

Among participating locations are Christy’s Corner Café (Elmore), The Island Grind (Middle Bass Island), Toft Dairy Ice Parlor (Sandusky), Sweet Spot (at Cedar Point), Baker on the Square (Milan), and Brummer’s Homemade Chocolates (Vermilion).

Get started by visiting SHORESandISLANDS.com. Under the “Things to Do” tab, click “Trails,” then select “Sweet Treats Trail.” Sign up with your phone number or email and the free mobile passport will be delivered to your phone via text or email. There is no app to download and your pass can be saved to your phone’s home screen for easy one-tap access. When visiting a participating business, check-in to gain points toward a prize; just ensure location services are turned on to check-in via GPS.

Each location check-in is worth 100 points on the passport. At 500 points, participants can redeem for a Sweet Treats Trail ice cream scoop. At 1,200 points, participants can earn a Sweet Treats Trail apron. Prizes are redeemable by earning the correct number of check-in points, selecting “Claim Now” on the mobile passport, and showing your completed reward at either of the Shores & Islands Ohio welcome centers (located in Sandusky and Port Clinton).

Some locations along the trail will also be offering discounts for trail participants.
