Santa’s Nap
December is a busy time for Santa,
Especially Christmas Eve.
He thought he’d catch forty winks
Before he had to leave.
He sat down in his big chair
Beside the fireplace.
He nodded off really quick with a
Smile upon his face.
His feet propped upon a stool
His boots close by his side
Just a little nap before his
Big long ride.
The elves had gone to bed.
Their work was all done.
They were tired too,
Even though making toys was fun.
Santa went sound to sleep.
The hour grew quite late.
His dreams were of children,
And of love, not greed or hate.
The children were sleeping too,
Their hearts full of faith and joy,
Of Santa Claus, candy canes and
Maybe a little toy.
The night was passing swiftly by
As Santa slept so sound
The fireplace crackling
Was the only sound.
The moon was slipping down.
The night was almost gone.
When Santa woke
with a great big yawn.
He jumped from his chair,
Pulled on his shiny boots.
He was already dressed
In his big red suit.
He dashed out the door,
Scampered into his sleigh.
The reindeer were all ready.
They were quickly on their way.
Even though he started late,
There was no need to fuss.
Cause no one would be left out,
Because that’s the magic of Christmas.
