Pemberville to host Fourth Annual Autumn Brew Hop Sept. 13

The Pemberville Independent Merchants Association (PIMA) is hosting the fourth annual Autumn Brew Hop on Saturday, Sept. 13 in downtown Pemberville on East Front Street.

“It gets bigger and bigger every year,” Rebecca Krukemyer, who serves on the committee helping to organize the event for the Pemberville Independent Merchants, said. “It’s a nice chance to bring people into the downtown community. It’s family-friendly. The brews are non-alcoholic. For some of our little boutiques, this is one of their big events as they don’t have a big budget to advertise.”

Overall, the event combines local handcrafted brews, live music, family games, shopping, and small-town charm.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., guests are encouraged to “hop” from business to business while sampling unique handcrafted, non-alcoholic Autumn Brews created by participating merchants. Each $15 commemorative mug includes free samples at every stop along the Brew Hop route.

Krukemyer said they have more and more businesses participating each year.

“It’s a conglomeration of different organizations,” she said. “We've got the Pemberville Independent Merchants. They host the event. But then you've also got the American Legion and the Pemberville Freedom Fire Department that also go in on this activity. And then this year, we're going to have the Eastwood wrestlers also helping at the event.”

Adding to the festive evening, local favorite The Noisy Neighbors will perform live from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Their performance is sponsored by Frobose Market IGA, The Comfy Cactus, and Frobose Meat Locker.

Eventgoers can purchase mugs in advance at Beeker’s General Store, Belle Fleur, The Comfy Cactus, and Country Cupboard. Supplies are limited, so early purchase is encouraged.

There will also be a Kids Zone managed by the local library, where they will have several passive games set up including: Oversized Jenga, Oversized Connect 4, Ring Toss, Pumpkin Checkers and Tic-Tac-Toe. The Eastwood High School Art Club will be doing face painting.

“This event is a wonderful way to bring the community together, support our local businesses, and enjoy an evening of good fun,” Krukemyer said.
