Project Details

The project includes reconstructing the existing interchange to a diverging diamond interchange (DDI), constructing a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Route 20/U.S. Route 23 and E. South Boundary Street, and installing a shared-use path along both the north and south sides of U.S. Route 20/U.S. Route 23 from the interchange to Crossroads Parkway.

Additional improvements include new sidewalks and crosswalks, curbs and gutters, roadway drainage, and lighting.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2027 and conclude in the fall of 2028.

Right-of-way and traffic maintenance

It is anticipated that permanent and temporary right-of-way (for construction) will be needed. A minimum of two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times on I-75. Traffic on U.S. 20 and the I-75 to U.S. 20 ramps may be detoured. Detour routes are anticipated to reroute traffic via Crossroad Parkway and State Route 199 to State Route 795 or reverse.

More information on maintaining traffic during construction will be provided as project development advances.

Environmental impacts

Minor environmental impacts are anticipated due to this project, including streams. Appropriate waterway permitting will be obtained prior to construction. A small amount of suitable wooded bat habitat may be impacted by the project; however, any necessary tree removal will occur between October 1 and March 31 to protect these species during their summer roosting period.
