The Board of Lucas County Commissioners voted Tuesday, Jan. 6 to name Commissioner Lisa A. Sobecki as president for the calendar year. The unanimous vote came at the commissioners’ organizational meeting.
“I want to thank my colleagues for their vote of confidence in me to lead this board for another year,” Sobecki said. “We know 2026 is going to present us with challenges from several fronts. I am confident we can navigate the tough waters together and continue to deliver high-quality services to our residents and businesses in the most efficient and effective way possible.”
Sobecki was elected to the Board of Lucas County Commissioners in 2022 and was named president in 2025, which means she will be in her second year.
Last year, Sobecki began hosting quarterly meetings with the elected leaders of other Lucas County offices to provide mid-year budget projection updates and work through issues facing the county as a whole.
“Those quarterly meetings increased communication and collaboration and built trust and transparency, and I’m committed to continuing them in 2026,” Sobecki said.
New in 2026, Sobecki will begin hosting quarterly meetings with the cities, townships, and villages within Lucas County to foster open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving countywide.
“I believe we are stronger as a community when we work together, and that’s going to be even more important as we navigate what is going to be a tough year,” she said.
Also during the annual organizational meeting, Sobecki and fellow commissioners Pete Gerken and Anita Lopez were named as representatives on various boards and commissions for the year.
