The eastbound lane of the Navarre Ave. bridge over I-280 is closed for six weeks, which began on Feb. 12. It is to allow Columbia Gas to repair their line at the corner of Wheeling and Navarre. You can still get to local businesses. Munding Dr. will be open. You can make a right onto Navarre from Munding, or you can take Wheeling to Navarre, go west and use the U-turn.
The Oregon Economic Development Foundation is in the process of interviewing and searching for a new director, and they are hopeful of naming one prior to their meeting on Feb. 21.
The Oregon City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
Lake Township
Lake Township became the latest local community to become an America 250 city as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026. Council plans to work with the park commission to plan an event in conjunction with the anniversary.
The Lake Township Trustees meet the first and third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. The next meeting is Feb. 18 in Administration Hall.
Gibsonburg
Council had second readings in regard to pay increases for the village administrator, chief of police and the fiscal officer.
The Ohio City/County Management Association has notified the Village of Gibsonburg that they will receive a 2024 OCMA Annual Award in the Redevelopment Project Category for the work that has been done to transform the Logyard.
There was discussion about an end of year accountability report for the 2024 calendar year, which was sent to the EPA and shows that in late 2024, Gibsonburg was averaging 88 to 90 percent of accountability in knowing where all of the town’s water is going once it left the plant. The national average is 85 percent.
Gibsonburg joined the America 250 movement to prepare the town for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Paperwork has been filed with the Ohio Secretary of State to dissolve the Gibsonburg Economic Development Corporation, and more details will be provided on that as time progresses.
The annual Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation meeting takes place Feb. 27 at 7:30 a.m. in the Neely Center at Terra State.
Gibsonburg has made it through the pre-vetting stage with the Vibrant Community Grant/Pharmacy project and continues to gather and submit additional information and support materials requested by JobsOhio. This is in an effort to develop a multi-use facility that will include a pharmacy business in town.
The next council meeting is Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m.
