To the editor: It seems as if it’s weekly that an article is published in this paper touting the idea of putting a roundabout at the intersection of Williston and Fostoria roads, almost as though there is a need to convince the public that it’s the only solution.
First one must question when the ODOT study was conducted. Anyone that regularly travels Williston Road knows that there is considerably more traffic during the summer months.
Yes, the rumble strips still work, but as for the flashing stop signs, if they flash, it must only be in the dark. Though state regulation does not require or prohibit them, it may help to have NO PASSING lines for this intersection and some advance NO PASSING signs.
When stopped on Fostoria Road on the north side of Williston, one must contend with three utility poles within a few yards of the other and two large signs to look for eastbound traffic on Williston.
Two of these poles could be eliminated with little work and the signs could be moved.
Better yet, all the utilities could be relocated. Utility re-location would be necessary to install the roundabout.
How about we save the taxpayers some money and pick a little more of the “low hanging fruit”?
