‘Walk-ins’ welcome for April 27 Color Run
The 2025 Color Run sponsored by Lake High School Yearbook will be held Sunday, April 27, from 4-5:30 p.m. at Main Street Church, 5465 Moline-Martin Rd., Walbridge.
The event is open to all ages and ability levels. Participants can choose a 1- or 2-mile course. The cost is $10 per participant.
Pre-registration is not required; participants may sign up at the event.
Stritch students to present Dinner Theater Cabaret May 3 and 4
The Cardinal Stritch Music Department will present a Dinner Theater Cabaret May 3 and 4 on the school campus, 3225 Pickle Rd., Oregon.
The theme for this year’s Cabaret, selected by the music department, is “The Cardinal Family Road Trip.” The events will feature singing, instrumental performances and other entertainment.
On May 3, doors will open at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:40 followed by the performance at 7 p.m.
Sunday’s performance will begin at 2 p.m. Doors will open at 1 p.m., with lunch served at 1:40 p.m.

Wood SWCD accepting poster contest entries
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and Wood Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) are accepting entries for a poster contest to be held in conjunction with the 2025 Stewardship Week.
The Stewardship Week and contest theme, “Home is Where the Habitat Is,” highlights the essential role of both natural and managed habitats in the NACD’s conservation efforts.
The Wood SWCD is offering an opportunity for Wood County K-12 students to create a hand-drawn, digital or Braille poster focusing on a stewardship message. The deadline to submit posters to Wood SWCD for 2025 NACD Poster Contest is Friday, May, 2.

Golf outing set
Central Catholic High School will hold its seventh annual golf outing to benefit student athletic programs on Friday, June 6, at Valleywood Golf Club, 13502 Airport Highway in Swanton.
Registration includes a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start, 18 holes of golf with a cart, food, and prizes. The entry fee is $80 for individuals and $320 for teams of four golfers. Both prices include skins. Mulligans can be purchased for $20 each per team at the event. Individual participants will be matched up in teams of four.

Orel Hershiser to speak at BGSU commencements
As part of its Spring 2025 Commencement exercises, Bowling Green State University will welcome former Falcons baseball player Orel Hershiser as commencement speaker, where he will share with graduating students his story of perseverance and journey to becoming a Major League Baseball standout.
The BGSU Athletics Hall of Famer will speak at all three Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 3.
In recent years, Hershiser has re-engaged with BGSU, becoming a champion of the University, its baseball program and the many opportunities it offers to students.
Williams receives Golden Apple Award
Ohio Parents For Education Freedom (OHPFEF) presented State Rep. Josh Williams with the Golden Apple Award for his support of online learning and education freedom in Ohio.
Williams accepted the award at Online Learning Day, held at the Ohio Statehouse in March.
“School choice has always been important to me and my family,” Williams said. “I'm honored to accept the Golden Apple Award. Every family in Ohio deserves the ability to choose the best education for their kids.”
