The community is invited to celebrate the history and achievements of Christy’s Corner Café in Elmore, and learn more about the disabilities movement at a gathering Sunday, June 29, from 4-6 p.m. The celebration will be held in the event space above the café, located at 368 Rice St.
Light refreshments and snacks will be available.
Christy’s Corner Café is known to many in the community for serving coffee and food, along with lots of smiles. The café is named in memory of Christine “Christy" Bosch,” who was born with Down syndrome, yet despite her disability, was able to live life to the fullest, thanks to the support and encouragement of others.
Bosch and her story were the inspiration for Engaging Opportunities Foundation (EOF), which provides meaningful opportunities for individuals with special needs and strives to help them reach their goals and greatest potential. Christy’s Corner Café is the first business sponsored by EOF.
Those attending the celebration will learn the story behind the café, and also how it empowers individuals with disabilities to build valuable job skills and thrive in the workplace.
