Wilbur Buffington

Wilbur “Willie” Buffington, 81, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away on Sunday May 7, 2023 after a lengthy illness at Ayden Healthcare of Oregon.  He was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 7, 1941, the oldest son of Wilbur and Betty (Martin) Buffington. Wilbur married Bette “Betsy” (Oberhaus) in Genoa, Ohio on July 11, 1970.
Wilbur owned and operated his own business that provided towing & hauling services to the surrounding area communities along with a recycling and junk yard. In his free time he liked to fish, hunt, and cook wild game. Road-trips to see fall colors and discover a new roadside stand was a frequent Sunday pastime.  In his later years he enjoyed trying new recipes and cooking for family & friends. He was famous for his specialty, Willie's baked beans! He was asked to bring them to every potluck he attended and family reunions.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Betsy, children, Jennifer (David) Fry, Patrick (Sarah) Buffington, Russell (Jacki) Buffington, and Lisa (Tyler) Buffington, grandchildren, Anthony, Maddie, Sophie, Alexander, Orion, John, Gus, Alena, Lizzy, Grant, Tristan and Carter. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Buffington. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack and Clarence Buffington and sister June Lehrman.
A visitation for Wilbur will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 10:30 AM-12:30-PM, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West Street, Genoa, Ohio. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 PM, immediately following the visitation. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
