Waste district grant program accepting applications

The Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District has announced the continuation of its Competitive Funding Grant Program for 2025.
The program provides funding opportunities to local governments, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations for solid waste initiatives.
Each year, the district allocates a specific amount in its budget for the grant program.
Funding is awarded in two rounds annually— in January and in June. The application period for the first round of 2025 grants is now open and will close Jan. 31. The second-round application deadline is June 30.
A committee reviews all submissions and provides recommendations to the board of directors for final approval.
The grant program was reintroduced in 2022 after a four-year hiatus as a result of funding concerns.
Last year, 20 organizations received funding to support their projects.

Grant applicants must already have an operating recycling program in place or be applying to start or expand a recycling program. Over the past few years, the CFG program has made a significant impact on local communities by fostering innovative waste management solutions, supporting environmental education, and encouraging sustainable practices. It empowers organizations to make lasting changes that benefit both the environment and the residents they serve.
