Waite students heading to California for BPA Conference

Press Staff Writer

Top performing students from Waite High School will be attending the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2019 National Leadership Conference, “Together We Create,” in Anaheim, California May 1-5.
Waite chapter members Belle Taylor and Brooke Campos will join more than 6,000 conference delegates from across the nation to compete in national level business skills competitions and attend leadership development, workshops, general sessions, and national officer candidate campaigns and elections.
In addition to having the opportunity to compete on the national stage and learn from leading business professionals, students will experience Anaheim, and the surrounding areas.
“Each year, the National Leadership Conference offers our students the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against other students from across the country, and be recognized for their dedication and hard work they have put forth through the year,” said chapter advisor Sara Costello, who teaches the Medical Office Management program at Waite.
Both Taylor and Campos competed in the Medical Office Procedures skills competition at the regional and state level. Taylor placed first in the region and first at the state leadership conference. Campos placed second in the region and ninth at the state leadership conference.
This will be Taylor’s second trip to the National Conference. Last year she placed sixth when she competed in Dallas, Texas. She is hoping to improve on her placement this year. This is Campos’ first trip to the National Conference.
Business Professionals of America is the premier Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for high school, college, and middle school students preparing for careers in business, finance and management information systems and other related fields.
