Terra State celebrates enhancements to college’s STAT Hub
Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted visited Terra State Community college earlier this month to celebrate the investment of $5.56 million through the Ohio Department of Higher Education’s Super RAPIDS program.
More than 100 community, business, and industry leaders were in attendance for the celebration.
The ODHE launched the $40 million Super RAPIDS regional program to support collaborative projects among qualifying institutions to strengthen education and training opportunities that maximize workforce development efforts in defined areas of the state.
The funding will be used to establish the Skilled Trades and Automation Technologies (STAT) Hub at Terra State. The initiative aims to renovate and upgrade learning and labs in Advanced Machining; Computer Numerical Control (CNC); Robotics and Automation; Welding and Fabrication; and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R). The goal is to provide cutting-edge training facilities that meet the needs of advanced manufacturing, train more qualified workers, and integrate additional industry credentials into the College’s education and training programs.
“We believe that Terra State will not only better serve the employers and the people who live in this community, but that Fremont will become attractive to new investments and new businesses because they will see that there is talent readily available right here at Terra State,” Husted said.
Terra State President Dr. Ronald Schumacher added, “Terra State is grateful to the leadership of Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Husted in advocating for funding to advance manufacturing training in our region. This significant investment in workforce education will benefit our manufacturing partners that are so critical to our economic success. Terra State stands ready to address this vital workforce need.”
