Superintendent search underway
On Feb. 12, the Eastwood Board of Education met with the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) to begin the search process for their next superintendent.
The new superintendent will replace Brent Welker, who is retiring after 20 years of service.
“After 20 years of dedicated leadership, Brent Welker is leaving an enduring impact on Eastwood Local Schools that has ostered excellence, innovation and a strong community of high achievement,” board president Randy Rothenbuhler said. “His commitment to education and student success will be felt for generations to come. I thank Brent for his contributions and wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.”
The OSBA consultant, Teri Morgan, will be disseminating the open search announcement across the state and nationally as appropriate. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, March 12.
After a thorough process of advertising and professional screenings, the board will interview candidates and conduct extensive reference and background checks. The board hopes to name its next superintendent by early spring. As the first step in the process, community and district input will be gathered through open focus group meetings, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Eastwood Transportation Office Conference Room (Bus Garage), 4900 Sugar Ridge Road, Pemberville.

• 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - bus drivers
• 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. - administrative professionals
• 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. - community, businesses, other
• 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. - grounds, maintenance, custodians
• 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. - middle/high school teachers
• 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. - elementary teachers
• 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. – administrators
• 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. - community
