Penta-Oak Harbor DECA:Making Connections
Over the past few weeks, Penta-Oak Harbor DECA members have been actively engaging with local senior residents, creating rewarding experiences for both students and community members.
On Jan. 27, DECA students visited Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus and conducted interviews with residents. This experience allowed students to develop valuable communication skills while learning from the stories and wisdom shared by the residents.
Then, on Feb. 2, DECA members made a special visit to Otterbein in Marblehead. Students conducted interviews with Independent Living residents and facilitated a painting craft activity for those in Assisted Living.
These opportunities not only helped strengthen community connections but also reinforced the importance of leadership, empathy, and service—core values of DECA and our school community.
