Face shields donated
The Ottawa County Board of Developmental Disabilities is one of several boards to receive face shields donated by the Clearwater Council of Governments, which acquired them from the Arlene Candles Co.
The shields are being distributed to direct support professionals who work in the homes of residents with developmental disabilities in Ottawa, Huron, Marion, Morrow, Erie, Crawford and Seneca counties.
“We aren’t always the first organization that you think of when you think of essential workers, although our direct support professionals are definitely essential. So it is awesome to receive such a generous donation,” said Melinda Slusser, superintendent of the Ottawa County board.
The candle company donated more than 700 shields to the council of governments. The company is headquartered in New Hampshire and has a manufacturing plant in New Albany, O.
A coordinator with the council of governments noticed the company has a form on its website for organizations in need of shields.
