Kurtovic receives “20 under 40” Leadership Recognition Award
Jennifer Kurtovic, executive director of Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce, received a 2024 20 Under 40 Leadership Recognition Award on Oct. 28 at the 29th annual 20 Under 40 awards ceremony.
She was among the 20 selected from a field of 187 candidates.
In 2021, Kurtovic decided to redirect her energy from corporate America to a career path that was more community-based to try to make a difference in the community where she lived.
When she began her role as executive director of the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber that year, she focused on public relations and membership growth. In her three years, she has seen membership growth of 165%, an increase in the scholarship program of 1,100%, and the addition of new events to engage members and the community.
“Cookies with Santa,” a free holiday event, also serves as a toy drive for their region. This year, the chamber launched two new events — “Sip on the Ship” at National Museum of the Great Lakes, and a “Business After Hours” chamber mixer with the Perrysburg Chamber.
Kurtovic serves on the board of directors for Oregon Growth Corporation, Oregon Senior Center, and Jake & Cooper’s Bark Park. She is a member of the Community Advisory Board at Cenovus Toledo Refinery, and the Community Advisory Panel at PBF Energy Toledo Refining Company.
Kurtovic is a graduate of Lourdes University and is a 2024 Leadership Toledo Signature Program graduate. Kurtovic resides with her family in Oregon.
The 20 Under 40 program focuses on individuals in Northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their career and/or in the community. An independent panel selects the 20 candidates for recognition. It is intended that the program will further motivate young leaders in our area.
Since 1996, 580 young community leaders have been recognized through the 20 Under 40 program.
