Paul E. Thielen
Paul E. Thielen, 92, of Woodville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Oregon, Ohio. He was born April 29, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, to Carl and Ellena (Brown) Thielen and graduated from Macomber High School in 1948. He served very proudly in the United States Marines from 1948-1966. During his deployment to Korea during the Korean War, he was wounded and received a Purple Heart with a bronze star.
Paul was a bus driver for 25 years with TARTA, retiring in 1998 to enjoy many golf games with his sons and son-in-law. He and his wife enjoyed traveling with the Cat Fancy Association showing and judging cat shows all over the United States.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Hester C. (Staunton), whom he married April 4, 1953, in Toledo, children, Mark (Jennifer) Thielen, Sana (Bill) Dunlap, Glen (Shari Collins) Thielen, grandchildren, Brent (Dawn Potter) Thielen, Alan (Tessa Howe) Thielen, Eric (LeeAnn Macey) Thielen, Jennifer (Chad) Bomyea, Adam (Brandy Brown) Dunlap, great grandchildren, Brandon Thielen, Haley (Carlos) Camacho, Angel Thielen, Carson Thielen, Roen Thielen, Emily Dunlap, Gabby Bomyea, Carter Bomyea, Lila Dunlap, sister Ruth Petree and brother, Noel Thielen. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lila (Thielen) Bovia, and brothers, Reid, Earl, and Dale Thielen.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, Ohio.
