Padgett Jr., Froling ice Toledo Championships

Toledo Speedway was the site of the ARCA Menards Series National Championship on Oct. 8, and the track’s The Vault ARCA Factory Stock and ARCA Salenbien Excavating Late Model Sportsman championships were also up for grabs.
Randy Padgett Jr. and Jim Froling notched their respective 2022 titles. The event was the final race of the season at the Glass City oval for the 2022 calendar. Sammy Smith took the win in the ARCA Menards Series Shore Lunch 200 presented by CGS Imaging in a wild finish. Nick Sanchez took the 2022 ARCA championship. The 25-lap The Vault ARCA Factory Stock feature saw Brian Ringger withstand several challenges for the top spot as he scored the win. Matt Bunting, Craig Osenbaugh, Padgett Jr., Dale Buttrey, Brad Turner, Hunter Padgett, Victor York, Steven Smith, James Rae, Gabrielle Grigsby and Logan Bunting were next in line at the finish. Padgett Jr.’s championship is his first title, piloting the #01 machine. Osenbaugh set fast time at 12:340.
Jim Froling iced his title by winning the 30-lap ARCA Salenbien Excavating Late Model Sportsman feature race. Greg Stilwell took the lead at the green, with Ron Allen taking the top spot on lap 2. Froling, the fast qualifier at 16:984, dropped back in the early laps and then began his move to the front. Froling sailed by Allen and took off to grab the victory and the championship. Allen, Stilwell, Kenny Sharp, Dan Grigsby, Dave Frantz, Kyle Worley and Joe Rozek trailed the winner. Andy Harding and Todd Perkins were scratched for the event.
