Opinion Ottawa Co. Senior Resources thankful for community support

Despite the fact that our meal delivery and senior center staff are not medical personnel, Ottawa County Senior Resources staff are on the front lines as they are delivering meals daily to our most vulnerable population.
Every day, nearly 300 home-delivered and Grab n’ Go meals are delivered to the seniors of Ottawa County. Due to the need for personal protection equipment at the hospital and first responder levels, masks or face coverings are not readily available for our delivery personnel.
To the rescue came the wonderful, caring people of Ottawa County, who have given of their time and talent to make masks so that we can protect our staff and our seniors. These generous donations have afforded our staff the ability to have a clean, colorful mask for each day of the week.
And now that our seniors have seen the masks, they are asking for some for themselves. We will continue to provide masks for those seniors who need and request them.
A special thank you goes to the following for their generous donations of masks to Ottawa County Senior Resources: Barb Ratcliff, of Oak Harbor; Mary Armstrong, of Port Clinton; Carole Everhart, of Perrysburg; Paula Shenkel, of Port Clinton; Rhonda O’Neill, of Oak Harbor, Rhonda Mulinex, of Oak Harbor; Marnie McAtee and Face Masks of Ottawa County; and the Area Office on Aging of Northwest Ohio.
