A local certified nurse practitioner is bringing a homegrown touch to Fremont and the surrounding communities.
Alexandra Rojas, CNP, says she is excited to be providing care to the city she calls home at ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
Born and raised in Fremont, she got her start at Memorial Hospital as a volunteer in high school at 16 years old and served at the hospital for over eight years. After volunteering, she began her medical career as a nursing assistant and then a registered nurse, all while developing a care philosophy to provide patient-centered and family-oriented care.
“My overall goal is to maintain health and well-being, so I like to make sure all health maintenance is taken care of,” she said. shares. “I can also offer cervical cancer screening and perform PAP tests as well, so patients don’t have to go elsewhere to get this health maintenance taken care of.”
Rojas says her passion for health care began when she was younger, helping care for her grandmother when she was sick. “That’s where it all began – I’ve always had a caring heart, so it was only natural to pursue a career in nursing.”
Rojas, who is fluent in English and Spanish, obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in nursing from the University of Toledo. Now as a CNP, she holds over 600 hours of clinical experience with John J. Hiestand, MD, and Iracema Arevalo, MD, both ProMedica providers in Fremont.
She is welcoming new patients at her locations in Port Clinton and Fremont. “I excited to be able to serve my community, specializing in family practice,” she said.
