Computer basics
Join the Wood County District Public Library and Ohio Connectivity Champions for a “Computer Basics” program Thursday, June 8 at 2 p.m. in the meeting room at the Walbridge Library, 108 N. Main St.
Craig Batke, of Ohio Connectivity Champions, will teach participants basic computer skills during the session.

Magruder lab screenings
Magruder Hospital’s next monthly community lab screening will be Thursday, June 8 between 8 and 11:30 a.m. at the Magruder Community Clinic 730 Jefferson St., Port Clinton.
The main lab test is a CBC, CMP and lipid profile, which includes liver and kidney function, fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, HDL/LDL, triglycerides and a complete blood count (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in the blood) for $50.
Add-on tests are available for an additional cost, including:
• Lipid profile: $20
• Hemoglobin A1C: $20
• PSA (prostate specific antigen): $30
• TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone): $25
• Vitamin D: $35
This lab screening is held on the second Thursday of each month. Appointments are required and may be made by calling 419-301-4304. Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to their appointment time but can have water. No insurance is accepted; payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (no American Express).
Conservative
candidate forum
The NW Ohio Conservative Coalition (NWOCC) is sponsoring a Ninth Congressional District Conservative Candidate Forum Tuesday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Schaller Memorial Hall, 130 W. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg.
The four invited declared GOP candidates, Steve Lankenau, J. R. Majewski, Craig Riedel and Dan Wilczynski, will answer questions posed by Tom Waniewski, former Toledo City Councilman, who will be moderating the event.
“We want to give voters an early chance to meet and listen to the currently declared candidates,” said Linda Bowyer, NWOCC chair.
Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the venue. Seating is limited. Parking is available behind the hall or on neighborhood streets. Do not park in the fire station parking lot.

Humane Society
benefit planned
VFW Post 2480 is having a Poker Run to benefit the Humane Society of Ottawa County. The run will be held June 10 at the post located at 214 Madison St., Port Clinton.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. Bikes will leave at noon and return to the VFW at 4 p.m.
Stops include the Portage Inn in Elmore, Bono Tavern in Bono, Crazy Lady in Curtice, and Howey's in Oak Harbor. Cars are also welcome to participate in the poker run.
Cost is $15 for drivers and $10 for passengers. Food will be provided upon return to the VFW.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. A 50/50 raffle will be held. Gifts baskets will be auctioned.

Turnpike exit ramps
to close for upgrades
Beginning at 8 a.m. on June 5, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission will close the eastbound and westbound exit ramps at Toll Plaza 81 (Elmore-Woodville-Gibsonburg) in Ottawa County for toll collection system upgrades.
The entrance to the Ohio Turnpike at Toll Plaza 81 from State Route 51 will remain open.
Eastbound travelers can exit at Toll Plaza 71 (Stony Ridge-Toledo) and follow the posted detour signs to State Route 51.
Westbound travelers can exit at Toll Plaza 91 (Fremont-Port Clinton) and follow the posted detour signs to State Route 51.
The upgrades at Toll Plaza 81 include the installation of:
-New hardware at the toll booths to enable electronic tolling.
-Pavement sensors to weigh and classify passenger vehicles and commercial trucks.
-Overhead sensors to detect over-height vehicles.
In addition, the toll plaza upgrades include the removal of existing hardware components and pavement repairs in the toll booth areas.
The work is expected to be completed by July 21.
Elections board
meeting set
The Ottawa County Board of Elections is meeting June 8 at 10:30 a.m. for a regular board meeting and to address any other business that comes before the board.
The meeting will be held at the board office located at 8444 W. St. Rt. 163, Oak Harbor, in the Veterans Memorial Building.
