Millbury's New Sportsman Club getting help from Lake Erie BBQ

Mike Lopinski of Northwood-based Lake Erie BBQ is helping the New Sportsman Club, 1420 Woodville Road, Millbury, with its annual fundraiser – donating all profits from its fish fry back to the club.

There will also be a raffle and more benefiting the club, plus $15 for a full perch dinner including two sides. This year the club will have two nights featuring Lake Erie BBQ’s fried perch dinners — March 27 and April 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The club has been open since 1953. Due to the COVID19 Pandemic the club hasn’t been able to have its wild game dinner where it generates the majority of funds for the club.

“The object of the New Sportsman Club shall be to promote the safe and efficient use of firearms and hunting equipment among members and their guests and to further aid development of honesty, fellowship, self-discipline and reliance among all sportsmen,” states a club press release.

For more information, please visit The New Sportsman Club on their website. www.nscmillbury.com. The club is by membership only but is open to the public during special events only, like the fish fry.

“Lake Erie BBQ is on a mission to bring quality food to Northwest Ohio,” Lipinski said. “All our meats are smoked with the finest woods sourced from an exclusive forested area surrounding Maumee Bay State Park. You won’t find any propane or electric grills here. Our smoking process gives our meats a unique flavor that you won’t find in most restaurants. As avid sportsmen, we specialize in fried Lake Perch, Lake Erie smelt and we love having Walleye cheeks for our customers when they’re available. Our menu changes seasonally so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for menu changes, as well as our weekly schedule and locations.”
