Mercy Health to acquire 10 urgent care centers

        Mercy Health is launching a network of urgent care centers in Toledo by acquiring 10 facilities from Greater Midwest Urgent Cares. The new ownership of the facilities will take effect Tuesday, April 1.
        Included in the acquisition are four urgent cares in Toledo, as well as centers in Rossford, Bowling Green, Waterville, Findlay and two in southeast Michigan.
        “In response to the growing demand for convenient, accessible care for minor illness and injuries, Mercy Health is investing in a network of urgent care centers throughout the region,” said Bob Baxter, president, Mercy Health – Toledo. “Our vision is to deliver welcoming, exceptional care that is personalized, quick and convenient. Mercy Health wants our patients to spend less time waiting and more time with their health care provider.”
        Mercy Health Urgent Care signed an asset purchase agreement for the 10 facilities from Greater Midwest Urgent Cares on Dec. 20 and has now begun a transition process for the employees to join the Mercy Health Urgent Care network in Toledo.
        Mercy Health Urgent Care will be making investments in technology infrastructure, such as electronic medical records and other technology and medical equipment. Additionally, exterior signage will also be updated to reflect the new ownership and brand name.
        Each urgent care facility will be designed as convenient retail sites with free parking, walk-in appointments, the option to reserve a spot online, and the added connection to a health system if a higher level of care is needed. Expanded hours and days of service will offer access for patients.
        If primary or specialty care is needed after the urgent care visit, that will be coordinated for the patient. And, if more critical care is needed the urgent care providers will connect patients and their loved ones to nearby hospitals.

        • Bronchitis
        • Colds, cough and flu
        • Cuts and minor stitches
        • Earaches, ear infections and swimmer’s ear
        • Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting
        • Sore throat, strep throat
        • Sprains, strains and minor fractures
        • Urinary tract infections
