Marie Paulette Oberhaus
Marie Paulette Oberhaus, 75, known by all as Paulette, passed away at the Genoa Retirement Village, on Friday, November 3, 2023. She was the daughter of Joseph M. and Mae M. (Stephenson) Henderson, born in Knoxville, Tennessee. She graduated from Charlestown High School in West Virginia and earned her bachelor’s degree at Shepherd College. Paulette attended the Fashion Institute of America in Atlanta, Georgia and was hired by the former Lamson’s Department Store, in Toledo, and Hartley’s of West Virginia, as a fashion/clothing buyer. Paulette also had been the State Liquor manager at the Community Market IGA in Oak Harbor, as well as a cashier and delivery person.
Paulette was an active person who enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating, crafting, gardening, refinishing furniture and especially decorating for the holidays. She was a former 4-H advisor, Leader for the Girl Scouts and Brownies, and a past president of the ABC Club of the Graytown Elementary School. Paulette was an active member of the D.A.R. and the Hillbilly Shriners.
Paulette is survived by her loving husband, Lyle Oberhaus, whom she married on June 1, 1985, daughters, Heidi (Tracy) Yeazel and Katie (Eric) Suder, grandsons, Hudson, Colton and Branson Suder, Matthew Yeazel along with Baby Yeazel, due to arrive in January 2024, sister, Patricia “Pat” (Dick) Ivarie, and sister-in-law, Stephanie “Stevie” Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mae, and brother, Joe Henderson.
A memorial service for Paulette is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, November 27, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, 450 N. Rocky Ridge Rd., Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at a later day in the Elliston Cemetery. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa, Ohio is assisting with arrangements.
