The game will be held at 1 p.m. on the lawn behind the Hayes Home and carriage house. Admission is free.
The teams will play base ball with the rules and style of the game during the Civil War era, when the sport was first rising to popularity. Back then, base ball was spelled with two words, and ballists, as players were called, played bare-handed.

        • John Cahill – PLC coordinator and varsity boys basketball coach for Fremont Ross High School, owner of NorthCoast Showtime.

        • Chris Hilton – Sandusky County Sheriff.
        • Greg Kohler – Owner, Kohler’s 818 Club.
        • Alice Miller – Senior EHS&S analyst for Clyde operations at Whirlpool Corporation.
        • Scott Miller – Sandusky County Commissioner.
        • Dean Schneider – Assistant chief, Fremont Fire Department.
        • Jerry Wasserman – Former Spiegel Grove Squires captain.
        • Derek Wensinger – Fremont Police Chief.
        • Russ Zimmerman – Sandusky County Commissioner.
The 2023 Squires team members include Earl “Stockings” Bargerstock, Buck “Uncle Buck” Byers, John M. “Fly” Frey, Gary “The Ump” Kaltenbach, Chad “Fingers” Kinsey, Dawson “Sleepy” Kinsey, Guy “Hook” Kohlenberg, Chris “Beast” Mayle, Kyle “5-0” Mayle, Aaron “Radar” Meade, Jim “Tallyman” Miranda, Joshua “Speedy” Schmidt, Kyle “Doc” Spriggs, Jerry “The Rookie” Stout, Justin “Numbers” Ward and Randy “Bat” Ward. The Squires are sponsored by Whirlpool Corp.
The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is located at Spiegel Grove at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues, Fremont.
