Flag shows
support for
local police

To the editor: I am a proud American and I support our law enforcement. So I fly an American flag and a thin blue line flag. I purchased the thin blue line flag when the defund the police campaign started so I could show support for our local police.
I wonder if the letter writer in the Sept. 26 issue, who claimed thin blue line flags are being used by white supremacists and as a substitute for the Confederate flag, drove by my house he would assume I was a white supremacist.
I haven’t heard that white supremacists are using the thin blue line flag as a substitute for the flag of the Confederacy. I was hoping he would respond and cite his evidence or research for making such a claim. I certainly hope it didn’t come from The View or 60 minutes. Statements like this only cause more division in our country and certainly aren’t what we need more of.

Editor’s note: A Martin resident wrote a letter to The Press in response to a Sept. 19 article about a bill introduced in the state legislature that restricts manufactured home park operators, landlords, and neighborhood and condominium associations from prohibiting the display of a thin blue line flag or emblem.
