Speed checks on
Bradner needed
To the editor: I was disheartened to read about the Mallard duck family that had been run over on Bradner Road by the pond. What made it sad for me is that I had just spotted them on my way to work and this incident likely happened the next day.
As someone who lives a little to the south of the pond on Bradner, I can attest to how often vehicles speed in either direction. This includes quite a number of vehicles that will pass me because I am going the 35 mph inside the village limits. I realize the Lake Township Police Department has a lot of ground to cover, but maybe they could have an officer doing speed checks a little more often on Bradner, like they used to do on a more regular basis.

Helping veterans
To the editor: We would like to thank the entire Elmore Community for the generous support that was shown over the Memorial Weekend during our annual Poppy Drive. All funds raised during the Poppy Drive are 100 percent given back to help the local veterans.
With the help of the Elmore community we were able to raise more than $1,600 for our local veterans.

Fix RR crossing
To the editor: How many more years are drivers who use Lime Street in Woodville going to have to put up with the atrocious condition of the CSX rail crossing by the Martin Marietta plant?
The condition of the crossing has gotten so bad that I have seen trucks reduce their speed to a crawl to avoid damage.
The other crossings near the lime plant were repaired by the parties responsible for them. When I asked the local township officials about the remaining crossing, I was told it was not their responsibility.
It is past time for CSX to get this mess corrected.
