The Lake Township trustees have approved raises for part-time EMS employees, office workers, and the zoning inspector as well as the interim fire chief, deputy chief, and EMS captain.
Richard Welling, a trustee, said 5 percent raises will go into effect the first full pay period this month.
The trustees held a special meeting Dec. 30 to conduct year-end business, he said.
The trustees also authorized police chief Mark Hummer to enter into negotiations with the union representing patrol officers and sergeants on a new 3-year contract.
Welling said raises for part-time firefighters will be considered in March.

Vacating roads authorized
The Wood County commissioners continued a hearing Tuesday on a request to vacate a portion of Millicent Avenue and Cason Street in the township.
The request was approved.
The township trustees passed a resolution last year that stated they were not opposed to the request.
Shawn Frasure submitted the petition for vacating the streets and the commissioners held their first hearing Dec. 10. That hearing was continued to allow the commissioners to compile more information.
Welling said the roads are undersized according to current subdivision development regulations.
