Karen “Nonny” Carlin, aged 66, of Northwood, Ohio, peacefully passed away on May 8, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 6, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, Karen was the cherished daughter of James and Joan (Young) Winterich. She graduated from St. Augustine Academy in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1975. In 1976, Karen married the love of her life, Tim, and together they raised three children in T-town.

For many years, Karen dedicated her skills as a receptionist to the East Suburban Animal Clinic in Northwood. She was known for her warm and welcoming demeanor, touching the lives of both the furry patients and their owners. In her free time, Karen delighted in attending family events, both locally and in sunny Fort Myers, FL, where her son and his family reside. Her presence on Fort Myers Beach will forever be cherished and will never be the same, literally!

Karen is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Tim, and their children: Erin (Darren) Munn, Chris (Molly) Carlin, and Lisa Carlin. She was a loving grandmother to Cody (Anna) Brown, Jen Brown, Gabby Carlin, Carleigh Brown, Mason Brown, Mia Brown, Fin Evans, Liam Evans, Elle Carlin, Oliver Carlin, Garner Munn, Braden Munn, Annabelle Munn, Darren Munn, Adelaide Munn, and Ezra Munn. Additionally, Karen was blessed with a great-grandson, Weston Brown. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Cheryl) Winterich, Mary Jane (Mike) Kelly, Susan (Tom) Wait, sister-in-law Mary Beth Winterich, and numerous nieces, nephews, and her beloved cat, Veera Jones. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Mark and David Winterich.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams who provided care and support during Karen’s journey. They extend thanks to Cleveland Clinic Oncology, Dr. Roesch; Palliative Pain Management Care, Dr. Samala; and Radiology, Dr. Shah. They are especially thankful for Dr. Kasunic, Karen’s dedicated oncologist at Toledo Clinic, and Dr. Rose Osowik, Karen’s beloved and dear friend, who always went above and beyond to ensure Karen’s comfort. The entire staff on the seventh floor at Flower Hospital provided exceptional care and compassion. Let’s not forget One Voice Foundation and Ruthie’s Angels for their wellness services provided to those struggling with chronic health conditions.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, an organization to which they are eternally grateful for their unwavering support during Karen's final days.
