German-American Festival (G.A.F.) will be pouring their own exclusively brewed beer this year, in addition to the more than 50 German beers the festival already serves.
Brewed by Earnest Brew Works, the German-American Festival beer is a variation of their best-selling “Crunchy Hippie” brew. To honor the Black Forest region of Germany (and the G.A.F.’s popular restaurant), Earnest has added black cherries and chocolate into the brewing process. The end result is a beer that not only smells like Black Forest cake, but offers a distinct chocolate and cherry aftertaste.
“It is sure to be a Festival favorite,” said Andrew Beevis, festival marketing director.
The 54th German-American Festival, Toledo area’s oldest and largest ethnic festival, will be held at Oak Shade Grove in Oregon, Ohio, from Aug. 23-25. The festival is presented by the G.A.F. Society and sponsored by the seven German- and Swiss-American Societies of greater Toledo. The purpose of the festival is to promote the German and Swiss cultures and support the German and Swiss cultural center in Oregon. A variety of scholarship, athletic and philanthropic programs in the Toledo area also benefit from the Festival. Visit germanamericanfestival.net/for more information.
Tickets are on sale for the 54th German-American Festival raffle. The first-place winner will win a two-year lease of a BMW X2 courtesy of BMW of Toledo, and the second-place winner will receive a three-hour, six-passenger limo ride courtesy of Childers, a steak dinner for two at either Final Cut Steak & Seafood or Epic Buffet, and a V.I.P table at a Hollywood Casino concert event courtesy of Hollywood Casino Toledo.
Tickets are available online at germanamericanfestival.net, at the festival until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug 25, or from a G.A.F. member. Online ticket sales cease on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m.
