Four inducted into Cardinal Stritch 2023 Hall of Fame
More than 130 alumni, supporters and friends gathered on the campus of Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School & Academy on Saturday, Dec. 2 for the induction of the newest members into the 2023 Hall of Fame.
The advancement and athletic departments of Cardinal Stritch and President/Head of School Bill Berry hosted the event, which included a meal prepared by Michael’s Gourmet Catering, of East Toledo.
For the last 30 years, Cardinal Stritch has been recognizing those who have shown outstanding service to the Cardinal family and the broader community. Candidates are nominated in the areas of family, faith, knowledge and strength.
The 2023 Hall of Fame inductees included:
• Laura (Ingraham) Basham, class of 2000, former Stritch volleyball athlete with numerous Toledo Area Athletic Conference and district awards, including player of the year.
• John Nikoncyk, class of 1965 – Former Stritch athlete in basketball and track, then athletic supporter for girls track and basketball teams.
• Jennifer (Toth) Wasserman, class of 1997 – Former student leader and athlete in track, volleyball, and basketball.
• Andrew “Bud” Zsigray – Basketball coach, longtime supporter of Stritch athletics and school board member.
• The 1972-73 DECA Chapter - This DECA chapter established a new state record with 18 winners at the State of Ohio DECA competition, including 10 first-place awards, three second-place awards, two third-place awards, and three honorable mentions.
