The cost to participate is $25, and all paid registrants will receive a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Salvation Army of Northwest Ohio and its many programs and services.

Toledo Rep reading
The Toledo Repertoire Theatre will present Madge Levinson and Paul Causman performing a reading of “The Velocity of Autumn,” directed by Jeffrey Albright, on Sunday, Nov. 15.
This one-day only live performance will be available to view in person or livestream. It will be available to view on demand Nov. 20 & 21.
The Velocity of Autumn swirls around Alexandra, an 80-year-old artist in a showdown with her family over where she’ll spend her remaining years. In Alexandra’s corner are her wit, her volcanic passion, and the fact that she’s barricaded herself in her Brooklyn brownstone with enough Molotov cocktails to take out the block. But her children have their own secret weapon: estranged son Chris, who returns after 20 years, crawls through Alexandra’s second-floor window and becomes the family’s unlikely mediator. No sooner are the words “Hi, Mom” uttered than the emotional bombs start detonating. The Velocity of Autumn is a wickedly funny and wonderfully touching discovery of the fragility and ferocity of life.

Metroparks wins
Gold Medal Award
Metroparks Toledo received the National Gold Medal Award for excellence in parks and recreation management, the most prestigious honor in the parks and recreation industry.
Metroparks was awarded the Grand Plaque on Oct. 27 during a livestreamed presentation by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association.
“It says a lot about our community that it has supported the top park system in the country,” said Dave Zenk, executive director. “We are shattering negative stereotypes about the ‘Rust Belt’ as people around the country learn about our incomparable quality of life. On behalf of our board, I want to thank our talented team for its dedication to achieving the highest level of professional standards.”
Metroparks was among 20 park and recreation agencies and four military installations across the U.S. and in Germany to receive this year's National Gold Medal Award Program Finalist Award. The other finalists in the large district category for agencies serving populations of more than 400,000 were Dallas Parks and Recreation, East Baton Rouge Recreation & Park Commission and Mesa Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities.
