Elsie Anna Pfouts

Elsie Anna Pfouts, 89, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving family 36 days after the passing of her beloved husband, Lee.  Elsie was born October 25, 1931 to Otto and Anna (Stuber) Schwarzkopf in Toledo, Ohio.  On November 22, 1958, she married her loving husband of 62 years, Lee Pfouts.  Elsie devoted her life to being a standout mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For over twenty years, Elsie served as office manager for Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Toledo and Calvary Lutheran Church, Northwood. Elsie and Lee enjoyed camping throughout the United States, wintering in Arizona, and traveling to Europe, South America, and Australia in their retirement years.  She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a choir member of over 60 years.  Her hobbies included: cooking delicious meals for her family and friends, gardening, birdwatching, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. 

Elsie is survived by her children, Tom Pfouts, Dan Pfouts, Don (Debra) Pfouts, and Sue Sass; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Hilda Dunaway, Bob (Betty) Schwarzkopf, John (Pat) Schwarzkopf, and Rudy (Kris) Schwarzkopf; along with many loving family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lee; son-in-law, Nicholas Sass; siblings, Otto Schwarzkopf, and Dorothy Ann Schwarzkopf; and her longtime group of friends from Waite High School.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Toledo. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio.  Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
