Elizabeth "Beth" Zajac Liskai

Elizabeth “Beth” Zajac Liskai age (65), of Gibsonburg and formerly of Woodville passed away at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was born November 24, 1955 in Sylvania, OH to Glenn and Evelyn (Mericle) Maddy. Beth graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1974 and earned an Associate’s Degree from Bowling Green State University. On October 3, 1981 she married Gary Zajac in Gibsonburg. Beth and Gary raised 3 children and enjoyed nearly 30 years of marriage before Gary’s death in May of 2011. Beth would find love again and on March 16, 2013 she married David Liskai at Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville. Beth and David have blended their families and celebrated over 8 years of marriage together.
Beth was an accomplished accountant, working for Glen Graffice and Sons for nearly 20 years. After her time there, she was the Woodville Village Clerk and Rocky Ridge Village Clerk before finally retiring from Martin Marietta in a secretarial role. She was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Woodmore School Board, ultimately holding the position of school board president. In addition, she had been a part of the Woodmore School of Paint (the Paint Crew!) and spent many years with Ronnie D and the Greaser’s. She was a member of the “Bunco Babes” and the Merry Lake Association. She spent her summers at her cottage on Merry Lake with David, her favorite pastime being sitting on her deck, watching birds, taking in the peaceful sights and sounds of the lake. Beth loved all things Christmas – the food, the music, Santa Claus, her North Pole Village, and most especially, spoiling her children and grandchildren. Nevertheless, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
While we will miss her immensely, we take solace in the fact that she has been reunited with Dad (Gary). We are also grateful for the second chance at love she was given with David. She was a blessed woman indeed, but we were ultimately the blessed ones, being able to call her ‘Mom’.
In addition to her husband David, Beth is survived by her children: Erin (Ryan) Stager of Oregon, OH, Steven (Amy) Zajac of Curtice, and Sara (Joe) Nowak of Woodville. Stepchildren: Stephanie (David) Weiker of Perrysburg and Michael (Cathy) Liskai of Waterville. Grandchildren: Evelyn, Austin, Jaden, Scarlett, Oliver, Ty and Ellis. Step grandchildren: Andrew, Hannah, Adam, Matthew, and Emily. Sisters: Jamie (Rich) Mackey, Virginia (Gary) Greunke, Barb (Al) Ahle, brother: Glenn Maddy Jr and many nieces and nephews.
