Donna Mae Recknagel

Donna Mae Recknagel, age 97, a 50 year resident of Temperance, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at her home in Oregon, Ohio. She was born on March 31, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Ralph and Clara (Sherman) Slates. Donna was a 1944 graduate of Woodward High School. She worked briefly at DeVilbus during the War before marrying her husband, Robert in 1947.  Donna was a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. She was an avid card player, especially enjoying Bridge, Euchre, and Pinochle. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and gardening. She will be dearly missed.

Donna is survived by her children, JanDell (Henry) Wasilausky, and Thomas R. Recknagel; grandchildren, Michael Perry, and Christina Perry; step grandchildren, Sara (Brian) Luckey, and Steven (Megan) Wasilausky; great-grandchildren, Krystal Perry, Zandra Perry, Briann Perry, and Layne Perry; step great-grandchildren, Sophia, and Caroline Wasilausky; and great great-grandchildren, Zayden, and Delylah Perry. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Border; and was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert F. Recknagel; and her siblings, Beatrice Ann Lattuca, Mary Lou Ulch, Eleanor Thomas, Delores Badas, and Edward Slates.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 10:00-12:15 p.m. and continue on with the funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Bittersweet Farms or Goodwill Industries.
