Donald D. Giles

Donald D. Giles, 84, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2021, at his residence after a lengthy
      illness.  He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 30, 1937, the son of William and Anna C. (Gensler) Giles.  Don attended grade school
      at St. Ann’s then Central Catholic High School where he graduated in 1955.  Don entered the U.S. Army in 1956 and married
      the love of his life, Virginia “Ginny” S. (Meng), in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 5, 1957.  Don was discharged in 1958
      and they returned to Northwest Ohio to raise their family and earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education, from the University of
      Toledo.

      Don was a natural born teacher.  He taught Graphic Communications at Penta Career Center for 25 years.  After he retired from
      teaching, he went back into the printing industry, working for Priesman Printery in Oak Harbor, Ohio from 1993-2004.  In his
      retirement years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren partake in after school activities.  He also enjoyed golfing, photography,
      woodworking, and spending winters in Florida.  Don was an active servant in the Catholic Church by being a Lector, Eucharistic
      Minister, facilitator for RICA and leading church services. Don was a joyful man who could strike up a conversation with anyone,
      starting with his infectious grin and smile.  Don & Ginny attended St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, Ohio.

      Don is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ginny, children, Victoria Soncrant, Michael (Maria) Giles, Theresa (Bob) Searles,
      Kevin (Lisa) Giles, Thomas (Kelly) Giles, Steven (Kerry) Giles, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in
      death by his parents, brothers, Paul and Raymond Giles and sisters, Anna Mae Wray, Phyllis Johnson, and Rita Hardy.

      Visitation for Don will be held from 5-8 PM, Monday, June 21, 2021, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West
      St., Genoa, Ohio.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Tuesday, June 22, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Werner St.,
      Walbridge, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio,
      30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551, the Allen-Clay J.F.D., Station 36, 101 6th St., Genoa, OH 43430 or St. Jerome Catholic
